2" Compact LP Disc-Kleen Filter is the perfect solution when automation is desired because manual cleaning is frequent and too cumbersome. The built-in backflush controller, operated by pressure differential and/or time, operates on (4) D batteries. Installation is easy with this pre-assembled compact unit. Two filter options for low and high flows - up to 80 GPM.

Features & Benefits

  • Automatic self-cleaning filter for low volume capacity - 1 to 80 GPM.
  • Constructed of the highest quality UV protected reinforced polymer plastic to prevent corrosion.
  • Proven Disc-Kleen depth filter technology - filters through the entire ring depth and not just the surface.
  • Built-in backflush controller functions by pressure differential gauge and/or time.
  • No electricity required - backflush controller operates on (4) D batteries.
  • Easily accessible bypass screen filter ensures clean water for backflushing.
  • Compact pre-assembled unit for easy installation - fits in tight spaces.

  • Wastewater systems with a capacity of 1-80 GPM requiring filtration.
  • For industrial use with recycled water or water discharged from a plant.
  • For areas without electricity.
  • When automation is required because manual cleaning is frequent and cumbersome.
  • Primary or secondary treated effluent.

2" Compact LP Disc-Kleen Filter Operations

A filter element (spine) contains a stack of compressed discs with an overlapping series of grooves that force the debris to move through the numerous trap points.

Unfiltered water passes through a stack of tightly compressed discs. The water is forced to flow through the interlocking grooves of the disc rings where debris is trapped, releasing only filtered water to the irrigation system.

As debris in the filter increases, the backflush process is initiated. The discs separate and jets of clean water spray and spin the discs removing the trapped debris which is then flushed out.

Water Quality

  • Good Water Quality: Municipal water supply or well water from a clean aquifer with no sand, iron or manganese.
  • Average Water Quality: Wells with small amounts of sand (< 2 ppm) or clear surface water which includes lakes, ponds, reservoirs and canals.
  • Poor Water Quality: Well water with sand up to 10 ppm or surface water in hot climates with increased biological growth and no chemical treatment which includes lakes, ponds, reservoirs and canals.
  • Very Poor Water Quality: Well water with greater than 10 ppm of sand including rivers, muddy canals, lakes and ponds with severe run off deposits and raw municipal wastewater.
  • Greater than 3 ppm Sand or Silt: May require a pre-filter such as a hydrocyclone.

Note: Inspect bypass filter on a regular basis; frequency is based on quality of the water.

Weekly Maintenance Check

  • Inlet/Outlet Pressure (30 psi upstream during backflush)
  • Backflush Controller (PD gauge returns to 0-2 psi after backflush)

Seasonal Maintenance

  • Close the water inlet after backflushing the system.
  • Make certain there is no pressure in the system.
  • Remove the cover by opening the clamp.
  • Unscrew the butterfly nut on the filtration element and remove the tightening cylinder.
  • Remove the disc set and tie the set on a string.
  • Place the discs in a cleaning solution, 10% Chlorine solution for 30 minutes for algae and organic material and Muratic acid for 30 minutes for iron bacteria.
  • Thoroughly rinse the discs with fresh water and reassemble the discs on the spine.
  • Check that the correct level of discs are assembled on the spine: compress the discs with two hands and make sure that the top disc reaches the imprinted circle on the outside of the spine.
  • Reassemble the tightening cylinder and tighten the butterfly nut. Use the butterfly wrench to ensure that the nut is sufficiently tightened.
  • Reassemble filter cover and tighten the clamp.
  • Check and clean finger filter.
