Leveraging Data and Industry Collaboration to Support Today’s Farmers

Today’s ag industry leaders are more than farmers and agronomists. In fact, working in agriculture is much closer to working in the tech space than at any other point in history. In the current day and age, ag leaders need to be equally comfortable with data analysis and agronomy. Startups and established corporations are investing in Web3 technology to develop tools and solutions to support a constantly evolving agricultural industry. This ecosystem includes everything from hardware to labor to financing.

In the past we looked at data through the “rearview mirror.” As agriculturists, our ability to leverage data for the good of the harvest, is limited by the number of harvests in our career. Rather than looking backwards, now is the time to leverage data to help identify improvement opportunities in real time

Planning Ahead with Data

The rise and use of AI, machine learning, and data analysis are now common not only in the office but in the field as well. Real time data is integral to agriculture. It can help farmers, policymakers, and industry leaders address today’s biggest issues.

At Netafim USA, innovation in precision irrigation solutions helps farmers adopt more sustainable practices and tackle some of the most pressing external issues that threaten their livelihoods. These issues include rising input costs, water scarcity, and labor shortages. We continue to further develop our digital farming solutions to help farmers monitor, analyze and automate their irrigation from anywhere. If data strengthens decision-making, partnerships and collaborations strengthen the industry. Collaborations help us deliver results for farmers by marrying resources and talent to create breakthroughs.

The Benefits of Industry Collaboration

If data strengthens decision-making, partnerships and collaborations strengthen the industry. Collaborations help us deliver results for farmers by marrying resources and talent to create breakthroughs.

Netafim USA was recently awarded the Vanguard Award from the Irrigation Association for our SDI-E Project.  This project is an example of strategic collaboration at its best. Working alongside Sustainable Conservation and multiple dairy farm partners resulted in the development of our innovative Effluent Subsurface Drip Irrigation (SDI-E) system, a sustainable solution helping dairies manage manure waste, creating a closed loop system in dairy manure management.

Partnerships also provide strength in numbers to make our collective voices heard on the issues that affect the ag industry. Creating coalitions and alliances are excellent opportunities to raise our visibility, educate stakeholders, and advance our industry. Working together, we can help stay ahead and shape policy by sharing a unified voice for agriculture.

How Netafim Is Leveraging Data and Partnerships

As Netafim USA evolves, we’re actively looking at how data can be better leveraged across the entire company. This includes partnerships to help farmers adopt sustainable practices that can help qualify them for government grants, commercialization of carbon, and infrastructure to help build a water credit marketplace. We’re studying, learning, and discussing possibilities to do things differently.

Leveraging data and industry collaboration are key factors that can advance our industry and truly help farmers. As industry leaders, we owe it to the ultimate stakeholder to work smarter, not harder.
